The law of attraction is the name given to the belief that  and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results. For example, if a person opened an envelope expecting to see a bill, then according to the law of attraction, the envelope would "confirm" those thoughts and contain a bill when opened. A person who decided to instead expect a check might, under the same law, find a check instead of a bill.
Although there are some cases where positive or negative attitudes can produce corresponding results there is no scientific basis to the law of attraction.

He pointed to the sufferings in the world and asked: "If the Universe manifests abundance at a mere thought, why is there so much poverty, starvation, and death
The efficacy of prayer has been the topic of various studies since  first addressed it in 1872. have failed to find any effect. According to the Washington Post, "...prayer is the most common complement to mainstream medicine, far outpacing acupuncture, herbs, vitamins and other alternative remedies.
Physician  has expressed doubt that prayer could ever be subject to empirical analysis.
